In the past few years, the relations between major countries have remained tense, the geopolitical situation has been complicated, and global crises such as public health and climate change have been emerging. At present, the Ukraine crisis, the plight of Gaza and other regional conflicts have led to large-scale humanitarian crises. In the face of the near-failure of the global conflict mediation and governance system, China is highly expected in global affairs.
On March 26-27, 2024, Centre for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University hosted the 6th International Forum on Strategy and Security, where politicians and scholars from around the world gathered in Beijing to exchange views and discuss solutions to current international relations and pressing regional conflicts.
How can the humanitarian crisis in the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict be alleviated? How to fix the current dysfunctional international order? Does the Afghan crisis deserve more international attention? How can ASEAN help the region thrive? How to deal with climate change? What role should China play in international affairs?
Focusing on these issues, China Forum, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University invited six Chinese and foreign scholars to conduct in-depth interviews and a series of dialogues.
Joining us today is Dr. Michael Vatikiotis, Senior Advisor at the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue based in Singapore.
